POLICE are warning the public after animal medication - which would be fatal if a person was to take it - was stolen during a burglary.

The theft is believed to have occurred overnight on Saturday, January 18.

Offenders gained access to a vehicle on Saint Bede’s Terrace, Sunderland, and stole a small locked metal box containing three bottles of medication.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "The medication is for animals and would be fatal should it be taken by humans or given to animals in the wrong dosage.

"An investigation is ongoing and officers are warning people about the dangers of the medication and urging for the drugs to be returned safely."

Anyone with information is asked to report it to police either by calling 101 quoting reference 385 190120 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
