A MAN has been charged with aggravated burglary after another man was allegedly beaten in his home.
The alleged victim said he was awoken in the early hours of the morning of Thursday at a house in Grampian Drive, Chester-le-Street, by the sound of breaking glass.
He said he had gone downstairs to see what had caused the noise and when he saw no-one there went back to bed. When he later heard someone at the door he went to it and was confronted by about three masked men who allegedly beat him. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
A spokesperson for Durham Police said a 23-year-old man had been arrested and charged with aggravated burglary.
Anyone with information should contact 101 and ask to speak to Durham West CID, quoting incident reference number 29 of January 16.
