THE driver of this wrecked car was told they should "put the lottery on" by a police officer after miraculously walking away from the crash with only minor injuries.
Emergency services scrambled to the scene after hearing reports of an accident on the M1 motorway near Leeds.
The vehicle, a red Peugeot, careered off the road at speed and hurtled into a ditch, where it ended up on its roof with the driver, whose identity isn’t known, inside.
Incredibly, the motorist escaped the crash with slight injuries, according to first responder PC Martin Willis, who works on the roads in West Yorkshire.
He said: “Amazingly the driver of this vehicle escaped with slight injuries when their vehicle left the carriageway on the M1 northbound, near junction 43.
“They should definitely put the lottery on.”
One lane had to be closed for 90 minutes while the car, which is thought to have been written off in the smash, was taken away.
Police, ambulance and fire service personnel all attended.
