A police van and a car were involved in a crash in Workington town centre.

The crash on Washington Street was reported to police shortly after 1pm on Saturday.

The bar is situated at the crossroads of Washington Street and Jane Street.

Tailbacks were reported to Hall Brow and Ramsay Brow following the crash, with one lane closed for about an hour while police dealt with the crash.

Only minor injuries were suffered by those involved, confirmed a spokesman for the force.

The driver of the car and two passengers suffered whiplash.

The police officer involved also sustained whiplash in the crash.

Road signage outside the pub was damaged in the smash.
