STOKESLEY School is closed today due to a gas leak.

Parents have been advised by headteacher Hannah Millett that the school was visited by Northern Gas Network on Thursday and identified a leak.

In a letter to parents she said: "Northern Gas Network has shut down our gas supply.

"This will leave us with no hot water or heating until the problem is rectified. Engineers will be working on Friday to fix this, and we expect normal service to resume on Monday.

"Thank you for your support as normal as we maintain a safe environment for students. Staff have been asked to email work to exam classes so please ask your son or daughter to check their school email.

"Year 13 exams will be rescheduled as soon as possible."
