THE A167 has reopened at Newton Aycliffe following a serious accident between a wagon and a car.
Both the female driver of the car and a child are believed to have been injured but the extent of which are unknown.
It happened this morning, near the junction with Central Avenue.
A spokesperson from Durham Police said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a wagon and a car at around 6.40am on the A167 at Newton Aycliffe.
"The road was closed while we awaited recovery of the vehicles but has since reopened.”
A spokesperson from the North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 6.37am this morning to reports of a road traffic collision in Newton Aycliffe.
"We dispatched eight resources, including four double crewed ambulances, three crews from our Hazardous Area Response Team and a specialist paramedic.
"Two patients were transported to James Cook Hospital."
