A POLICE officer had to clamber through a smashed car window to examine whether it was stolen or not.
West Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a vehicle with a smashed window at around 2:30pm yesterday.
It was found in the Guiseley area.
Officers conducted initial checks and could not identify a local owner.
They soon released the blue car was "no ordinary" vehicle, after discovering a number of items in the car.
This included jewellery, registration plates, other vehicle keys and burglar’s tools, according to a police spokesperson.
The vehicle's identification number had also been partially covered internally.
Such suspicious circumstances led an officer to climb through the car's smashed window to investigate.
Once inside, he used some "borrowed tweezers" to remove the obstruction.
It was then discovered that the vehicle was stolen.
Police subsequently seized the car.
All the items were sent for forensic examination and the investigation continues.
