A MAJOR city centre road has remained closed this morning due to a spillage.

Two cars were sent skidding out of control yesterday due to a thick brown substance covering Queens Road, close to Midland Road and Manningham Lane.

Police were called to the crash at around 9am.

The substance is believed to be a biofuel, made up of animal fat.

Firefighters explained yesterday how the spillage had left the road as "slippery as ice" and urged drivers to avoid the area for the rest of the day.

At around 12pm, the road was closed.

There have been calls this morning to suggest that Queen's Road has remained closed both ways, in this area, according to the T&A's traffic page.

Traffic is coping well, but it is likely to cause delays heading into rush-hour this morning.
