NEIGHBOURS have been left shocked after two vans were 'firebombed' late on Sunday night.

The vehicles were parked outside a house on George Stephenson Boulevard when they were targeted at around 11pm.

One resident, who didn't wish to be named, said: "We heard a loud bang and when we looked outside we could see that the vans were on fire.

"Thankfully, no one was hurt. It was really frightening to think what could have happened."

Police investigators worked at the scene gathering evidence while gas engineers also carried out an inspection of the property to ensure the are was safe.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to a report of a vehicle on fire on George Stephenson Boulevard in Stockton at around 10.50pm on Sunday.

"Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire.

"It is believed four people dressed in dark clothing were seen in the area at the time of the incident and they left in the direction of Piper Knowle Road prior to police arrival.

"Police are appealing for these people to come forward as they may be able to assist with enquiries.

"Police are treating the incident as arson and are carrying out enquiries to try to trace those responsible."
