Convicted drug courier, Paul Dismore, jailed for high speed police chase through Middlesbrough

Paul Dismore was part of a Trans-Pennine drugs network, which was brought down in 2014, after he was caught up in a high speed police chase near Yarm in 2012 when he was one of two people arrested with more than £90,000 worth of cocaine.

The 34-year-old, of Maldon Road, Middlesbrough, is back behind bars after crashing a white BMW into two cars at speeds of up to 65mph in the centre of Middlesbrough at around 11.40pm on February 27.

Teesside Crown Court heard that Dismore was more than twice the legal limit for drug driving after a swab detected traces of cocaine in his system and he was more than four-times over the limit with the amount of cocaine breakdown compound benzoylecgonine in his system.

Jenny Haigh, prosecuting, said the driver of the Renault Megane, that Dismore ploughed into, had to be cut free from the wreckage and suffered several injuries as a result of the impact.

She said police were alerted to Dismore by an anonymous call and he was spotted pulling out of the road at his home address before driving on to Acklam Road.

He then headed towards Ayresome Street and onto Longford Road where the unmarked police car activated its blue lights but Dismore sped off, driving over speed humps and crossing junctions without stopping until he ploughed into the Renault on Parliament Road.

The speed he was travelling resulted in the car heading into Union Street, hitting another vehicle before coming to a stop.

Dismore pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving above the legal limit for cocaine.

In mitigation, Aisha Wadoodi, said he accepted he had been driving dangerously at speed but urged the judge to spare him jail.

Judge Peter Armstrong said: "You admitted the offence when you were arrested, you did run away which is not to your credit, but you did admit it."

He jailed Dismore for eight months with two one month concurrent sentences for drug driving and banned him from driving for 16 months.
