AFTER The Northern Echo confirmed that the InsideOut nightclub in Darlington would not reopen, hundreds of people have reacted to the news.

On social media, the veteran venue has been described as “scruffy and run down,” while others say its closure comes as “real blow” to the town.

One club goer said: “It’s about time it closed it’s been nothing but hassle.”

Meanwhile another said: “My best memory was leaving the place and going home.”

Others commented on the entrance fee charged over the years slamming the management for charging almost £10 to enter on certain nights.

However, one DJ who played at the venue on a number occasions, described the closure as sad news.

DJ Denney said: “This is a real blow to the area, they brought some amazing talent over the years.”

“It seems we keep losing clubs to larger scale events in the UK - we need to maintain a healthy scene with proper nightclubs.”

While the nightclub stirred up controversy and notoriety, comments on social media continued to say the venue would be missed.

One reader said: “We’ve had far too memories in there to share,” and another said: “Darlo will never be the same again.”

On Thursday, the venue confirmed its would now close.
