A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after a man was taken to hospital following an alleged assault.

A 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with an alleged assault in Stockton on Christmas Day and has today been charged with attempted murder.

Police were called to Dinsdale Road in the Hardwick area of Stockton at around 9pm, following reports of an altercation where a man had been assaulted.

A 35-year-old man received hospital treatment for injuries to his chest, head and back. He was hospitalised for several days.

The 29-year-old was due to attend Teesside Magistrates’ Court today.

A 31-year old-woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and importing a prohibited weapon has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
