DETECTIVES investigating a murder arrested a 20-year-old man yesterday afternoon.

John Wright, 41, was found dead on Parliament Street in Stockton at around 1pm on Sunday.

It is believed he had been stabbed.

Officers from Cleveland Police arrested the suspect on Stockton High Street on Monday.

He was arrested on suspicion of murder and currently remains in custody.

Mr Wright’s family has released a tribute and photograph of him.

They said: “Today we have identified our family member John Wright who tragically died on Sunday December 29.

“John was loved by all of his family and was everything to us and we hope no one else has to go through anything like this.

“Please, if anybody has any information, please contact the police and if you do know anything please don’t share it on social media.

“Pass the information to the police and help them with their enquiries.”

The family would like to request privacy at this difficult time to enable them to grieve.
