Two shop workers had to be rescued after getting trapped in their own store.
The rescue happened at 1.20pm on Saturday when the crew were called to the aid of two women who had become trapped in a shop in Church Street, Seaham, after the roller shutters on the front of the shop closed and would not open.
Firefighters Philip Dance and Conner McCabe rescued the women through the upstairs window using a ladder.
On the same weekend the firefighters conducted a very different rescue after two kittens got stuck on a roof.
The mischievous kittens, Orio and Dusty, had climbed onto a house roof in Doxford Terrace, Murton, through a Velux window in the loft.
Rescue teams were called out at 3pm. Firefighters Dance and McCabe climbed up to the kitties using a ladder and used cat treats to tempt them to safety. The cats are now safe and well.
