A MAN was hospitalised and two were arrested after a street brawl in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident, which happened near a taxi rank in New Quay Road in Whitby, North Yorkshire, led to one man suffering serious injuries.

At around 2.30am, police recieved reports that a large crowd had gathered as a street brawl involving a number of suspects was taking place.

Police said one man was admitted to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious injuries, while two men were arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said it had now launched a dashcam footage appeal, and an appeal for witnesses on the night.

They said: "Officers are asking members of the public to get in touch as they believe there was a large crowd that gathered and watched events unfold and they will have information that will help the investigation.

"There may also be vehicle dash cam footage of the incident - anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Nick Burton or email Nicholas."

Both men have since been released pending further enquiries.
