THE following cases were heard at County Durham and Darlington Magistrates’ Court at Newton Aycliffe and Peterlee this week:

Brogan Stubbs, 22, of Greathead Crescent, Newton Aycliffe, pleaded guilty to driving an Audi A3 VRM on St Cuthbert’s Way, Newton Aycliffe, whilst over the drug (benzoylecgonine) drive limit and without insurance on August 27. He received a 12 month conditional discharge, disqualified from driving for 16 months and ordered to pay a £21 victim surcharge.

David Morton, 28, of Jane Street, Stanley, admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Stanley on November 12. He was given a six month conditional discharge, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £21 victim surcharge. A charge of obstruct PC on the same date was withdrawn.

Mandy Christa Bowes, 39, of Cuthbert Avenue, Sherburn Road Estate, Durham, was found guilty in her absence of stealing clothing worth £50 from TK Maxx at Durham on August 9. She was fined £120 and ordered to pay £50 compensation, £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

Jonathan George Callagahan, 29, of Wylam Avenue, Darlington, pleaded guilty to driving a Fiat Abarth on Leyburn Road, Darlington, on August 10 whilst the proportion of controlled drug benzoylecgonine exceeded the specified limit. He admitted a separate charge of driving over the morphine drug drive limit. He was banned from driving from 16 months and fined £180, ordered to £85 costs, a £32 victim surcharge.

Daniel Joseph Coatsworth, 26, resident of Changing Lives, Chester-le-Street, was charged with stealing Warcraft merchandise valued £57.40 from Boyes, in Bishop Auckland, on September 4, and similar items worth £187.63 from the same shop on September 15. He was also accused of stealing pink gin worth £13.99 from Savers, in Bishop Auckland, on October 7. All three were proven in his absence. He was ordered to pay compensation of £100 to Boyes and £13.99 to Savers.

Adele Monaghan, 31, of Corporation Road, Darlington, was found guilty in her absence of stealing meat products worth £150 from Asda Darlington on August 4. She was fined £440 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £44 victim surcharge.

Michael Mullen, 23, of Hawthorn Road, Spennymoor, pleaded guilty to driving a Renault Clio on Hawthorn Road without insurance, otherwise in accordance licence and whilst over the drug (cannabis) drive limit. He was fined £120, banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

Graeme Stokoe, 45, of Sussex Road, Consett, admitted driving a Ford Focus on the A177 at Houghall whilst over the drug (cannabis) limit. He was disqualified from driving for 16 months, fined £440 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £44 victim surcharge.

Sarah Brown, 25, pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer in the execution of his duty and to assaulting an emergency worker by beating him at Horden, on November 30. She was fined £107 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

Kevin Dill, 30, of Kelvin Street, Ferryhill, admitted criminal damage of a car door panel in Ferryhill on December 2. He was fined £40, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

Benjamin Harry Johnson, 19, of Haig Road, Catterick Garrison, pleaded guilty to drink driving in a Volkswagon Scirroco on The Sidings, Darlington, on December 1. He had 73 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 ml of breath. He was banned from driving for 18 months, fined £300 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

Gavin Malcolm Joseph, 52, admitted wilfully obstructing and assaulting a police officer in Darlington on November 2. He also pleaded guilty to driving a Rover 45 on Katherine Street without insurance. His driving licence was endorsed with six points, he was given a community order with ten RAR days, ordered to pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and a £90 victim surcharge.

Thomas David Lee, 20, of Park House Gardens, Sherburn Village, admitted a racially aggravated public order offence in Durham City on November 9. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

Graham Stephen Mallaney, 30, of Denmark Street, Darlington, pleaded guilty to resisting a PC in Darlington on November 16. He was fined £240 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

Wojciech Macieji Paprocki, 45, of West Bank Close, Keighley, Bradford, admitted drink driving in a DAF goods vehicle at Peterlee on November 27. He was disqualified from driving for 17 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

Desmond Roy Hoggarth, 56, of Coniscliffe Road, Darlington, was found guilty of an assault by beating in Darlington on May 13. He was ordered to pay £100 compensation to the victim, £620 costs and £90 victim surcharge.

Paul David Thompson, 39, of Beaconsfield Street, Darlington, admitted handling a stolen NatWest debit card and fraud by using it to buy cigarette from Sainsbury’s Darlington between November 20 and 21. He was given a community order with a curfew and ordered to pay £27.20 compensation.

David Lee Carrick, 34, of John Street, No Place, Stanley, admitted criminal damage of a CCTV camera in Chester-le-Street on October 8 and of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour at Pelton Fell on October 23. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £100 compensation.

James Luke, 62, Acke Rigg Road, Peterlee, pleaded guilty to breaching a disqualification from keeping animal by owning a malamute dog at Seaham on November 17. He was fined £40, and ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge.

Gary Mullaney, 46, Edward Terrace, New Brancepeth, admitted entering St Cuthbert’s Hospice, Chester-le-Street as a trespasser on May 27 and stealing an envelope with contents of unknown value. He was given a community order with 12 RAR days and ordered to pay £250 compensation.

Alex Purvis, 25, of Thornbridge, Washington, failed to provide a specimen of blood when required by police in Durham on June 19. He admitted the offence and disqualified from driving for 36 months, fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
