A GOLF club captain asked a teenager for "dirty pictures" in return for helping her to buy a new car, a court heard.

The young woman was in her late teens when she asked Malcolm Fawcett for help because as a serving police officer he would be able to help her get a discount.

She told jurors of her shock at his request for lewd photographs and also said he told her he would like her to bring him a towel into the men's locker room at Brancepeth Castle Golf Club, near Durham.

The same complainant says he stopped her in the corridor at the club at a New Year party and kissed her on the lips.

She told Teesside Crown Court: "I asked him on Facebook messenger if he would be willing to sign a piece of paper to say he worked for the police.

"He said he would help if I sent him some dirty pictures or take him a towel into the shower room in the men's lockers.

"I don't think I replied on messenger at the time. I was shocked and disappointed because I was just asking for help."

She described how Fawcett would deliberately brush against women as he made his way around the club but make it seems as though it was accidental.

The woman said: "He would quite often brush against you as he was walking past and then say "oh, sorry I didn't mean to," but I would know he had done it on purpose."

A second complainant told jurors that Fawcett’s behaviour was ‘inappropriate’ when he ‘smacked her a***’ and on another occasion when he tried to kiss her on the lips, but she managed to turn her head away.

The witness, who gave evidence from behind a screen, said the defendant had regularly made remarks about her body.

When asked what she meant and how it made her feel, she said: “It was about my boobs most of the time, saying that they were big and that I had a nice a***. It made me feel uncomfortable, but I didn’t want to say anything because I was too nervous.”

She told jurors that Fawcett also frequently pestered her to accept his friend request on Facebook and eventually accepted it as she felt ‘awkward and pressured’.

Fawcett, of Framwellgate Moor, Durham, pleaded not guilty to 11 charges of sexual assault dating from January 2016 until January last year.

Five of the charges relate to one alleged victim, whilst there are three against another, two charges for the third woman and one charge in connection with the final alleged victim.

The trial continues.
