TRIBUTES have been paid to a family man who died after a he was hit by a van.
Gary Amos was struck by a Ford Transit Tipper on Durham Road, in Blackhill, Consett, at 9.55am on Tuesday, November 26.
The 59-year-old, from Consett, had got out of his vehicle after suffering a medical episode when he fell backwards into the road and into the path of an oncoming van.
He was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary with head injuries, but died a few days later.
His wife, Debbie, said: “It is with deepest regret that I announce the death of my loving husband Gary Amos, who was involved in a tragic road related incident. He was a much loved husband and father and will be sadly missed. We wish to thank everyone for their support.”
An investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
