A REDCAR museum has won a national award for providing 'excellent' educational services.
Kirkleatham Museum has been awarded the Sandford Award, which recognises quality and best practice in educational provision outside of schools.
The museum was visited by judges who shadowed a school visit of Year 4 children and saw how the children learned about Anglo-Saxon England through the museum’s exhibition of locally unearthed artefacts.
Speaking after the award event at the V&A Museum of Childhood in London, Lead Judge Michael Maddison said: “Kirkleatham Museum provides a variety of workshops and educational sessions for organised groups and schools, and also plays host to an annual programme of exciting exhibitions, family events, musical performances and seasonal activities. Tucked away to the south of Teesside, it is a hidden gem, a museum complex to be explored by all ages."
