DRUGS, weapons and cash were seized in late night raids to tackle organised crime.

Officers in Newcastle recently executed warrants at two addresses in the city.

They raided the addresses on Eastgarth in Newbiggin Hall in response to concerns around anti-social behaviour and drug use.

In the late night raids officers forced entry to the residential properties with the support of a team of Special Constables.

They seized a quantity of white powder, large amounts of cash and weapons including knuckle dusters and baseball bats.

A 44-year-old woman was arrested and has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Inspector Harninder Bola, of Northumbria Police, said the disruption activity will continue.

He said: “These raids were a direct result of intelligence from the public and I hope this shows we will take action when we are informed about illegal activity.

“Drug dealing and drug use has a direct link to anti-social behaviour and crime and that can have a big impact on the local community.

“There is no place for this type of illegal activity on our streets and these warrants should send a strong message to those involved in this type of criminality.

“We will look to a range of tactics to disrupt criminal networks and will continue to make communities safer.”
