THE following cases were heard at Newton Aycliffe and Peterlee Magistrates’ Courts in the last week.

LEWIS ICETON, 36, of Newton Cap Bank, Bishop Auckland, was sent to prison for four weeks after he breached a restraining order. Iceton was made to pay £122 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

MATTHEW DANIEL STEPHENSON, 29, of Robson Street, Consett, was disqualified from driving for 15 months after he pleaded guilty to drink driving. Stephenson was also fined £580, made to pay £58 to fund victim services and ordered to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

TONY SIDNEY WESTGARTH, of Bruce Glazier Terrace, Shotton Colliery, was given a suspended sentence after he was caught driving whilst disqualified from holding or obtaining a licence. The 34-year-old was also ordered to pay £122 to fund victim services and made to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

DAVID UNSWORTH, 38, currently at H M Prison, Durham, was found guilty of causing harassment, alarm or distress in a racially aggravated incident. Unsworth pleaded guilty and was fined £120, made to pay £50 compensation and ordered to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

CHRISTOPHER ALAN MARTIN, 34, of Selby Court, Darlington, was sent to prison for seven days after he failed to comply with requirements imposed following prison release. Martin admitted the breach.

TERRENCE MACKELL, 32, of Arundel Walk, Pelton, stole two packs of Pampers, two bottles of Pantene shampoo and a box of Surf washing powder from Marks and Spencers. He was given a community order which required him to undergo drug rehabilitation.

SCOTT THOMAS SAUNDERS, 36, of Falcon Road, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to driving whilst under the influence of amphetamine. He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 20 months. He pleaded guilty and was fined £120, made pay £30 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

GEMMA LOUISE BRADLEY, 28, of North Coronation Street, Murton, was discharged conditionally for 12 months after she stole £19.28 of food items, from McColls. She was also made to pay £19.28 compensation.

TONY RICHARD DEEHAN, 40, of Galgate, Barnard Castle, stole £180 of beauty products from Superdrug. He was given a prison sentence of 18 weeks which was suspended for 12 months.

MICHAEL JAMES JACQUES, 37, of Surtees Street, Darlington, was given a suspended prison sentence after committing fraud. He was also made to pay £17.40 compensation.

STEPHEN WARD, 34, of Bek Road, Durham, pleaded guilty to driving whilst under the influence of a controlled drug, which exceeded the specified limit. He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months and made to pay £120. Ward was also ordered to pay £32 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

NEIL ANDREW WELSH, 40, of Chapel View, West Rainton, assaulted a police constable acting in the exercise of his functions. He was fined £40, made to pay £32 to fund victim services and ordered to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service. Welsh was also ordered to pay £50 compensation.

DANIEL SMITH, 27, of Daleview Crescent, Morecombe, was given a community order after he assaulted a woman by beating her. Smith was also given a restraining order and made to pay £90 to fund victim services and £300 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

RICHARD THOMAS WATERSON, 25, of Ewehurst Road, Dipton, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving in court. He was given a suspended sentence and disqualified from driving for 12 months. Waterson was also made to pay £120 to fund victim services.

MATTHEW STYLES, 41, of Blackhall Colliery, Hartlepool,was given a five-week prison sentence after he assaulted a police officer. He was also made to pay £50 compensation.

MARK EDMUND LEAHY, 31, of Spen Street, Stanley, stole £6.82 of groceries from Asda. He was fined £120 and made to pay £32 to fund victim services.

GORDON ALEXANDER, 37, of Westgarth Terrace, Darlington, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. He was given a restraining order.

CURTIS COOMBES, 33, of Broom Hill, Stanley, was made to pay £360 after he failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirements made by Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court.

STEPHEN ELDRETT, 30, of Drake Street, Spennymoor, admitted breaching a community order and was made to pay £120.

WARREN ANTHONY KENNICK, 34, from Great North Road, Plawsworth, failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirements and was discharged conditionally for 12 months and ordered to pay £30.

ANDREW RODGER STEPHENSON, 51, of Salvin Street, Croxdale, was found guilty of verbally abusing a woman which he was prohibited from contacting by a restraining order. He was fined £600.

VICTORIA GITTINS, 36, of Whitemere Gardens, Gateshead, was up in court after she failed to give information relating to the identification of a driver by a police officer. Stephenson was given six penalty points, ordered to pay £600 to the Crown Prosecution Service and fined £660.

JOSEPH WAYNE HALL, 34, of Easington Lane, Houghton le Spring, was fined £220 after he broke the speed limit on a road in Fishburn. He was also made to £600 to the Crown Prosecution Service and £30 to fund victim services.

JEFFREY BALL, 59, of Antrim Gardens, Seaham, was found guilty of breaking the speed limit on a road in Eston and was given three penalty driving points. Ball was also fined £440, made to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service and £44 to fund victim services.

STEVEN ROBERT HETHERINGTON, 30, was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 16 months after he was caught drink driving. He was fined £160 and ordered to pay £300 to the Crown Prosecution Service. The court also imposed a £32 charge to fund victim services.

KANE LAMBERT, 28, of Tenth Street, Horden, was up in court after he damaged a fridge freezer, a dog bed and a microwave with intent to destroy or damage the property. The court enforced a community order and a restraining order. He was also made to pay £50 compensation, fined £90 and ordered to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

JAMIE BYRON TAYLOR, 19, of Ramsey Place, Newton Aycliffe, was given a suspended sentence after he intimidated a court witness. He was made to pay £115 to fund victim services and £320 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
