A LORRY driver was airlifted to hospital after his vehicle overturned on one of North Yorkshire's busiest roads this morning.
The driver was seriously injured when his green Iveco wagon overturned on the eastbound carriageway of the A64 near Malton at around 9.34am.
The road has remained closed throughout much of the day whilst emergency services, including police, fire and ambulance crews and an air ambulance, were called to the scene.
It is expected re-open at around 4pm and motorists are being warned to avoid the area if possible.
Police enquiries into the incident are ongoing and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward to assist the investigation.
In particular, anyone who witnessed the crash, was travelling in the area at the time, or had dash-cam in operation prior to the collision is urged to contact them.
