A MAN has been charged following a violent burglary in Crook which left an elderly man in hospital.
It is believed the suspect entered the house on West End Villas shortly after 5.30pm on Friday, October 15.
Once inside, the suspect assaulted the victim, hitting him over the head before taking various items from within.
The elderly man was taken to hospital with a number of injuries.
A 27-year-old man has since been charged with assault and burglary in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Durham Crown Court on December 20.
