GREEN Party candidates in County Durham in the forthcoming General Election will outline their policy pledges at a hustings meeting this week.

The Greens are standing in four of the county’s six parliamentary seats, hoping to make inroads in what are traditional Labour strongholds.

Three of those four candidates will attend the party’s county election launch in Durham, on Thursday.

The four Green candidates in county seats are Jonathan Elmer, in Durham City, David Sewell, in North West Durham, Derek Morse, in North Durham and John Furness, in Sedgefield.

All but Mr Furness, who is an NHS paediatric consultant and unable to attend due to work commitments, will attend the event, in the Ritson Hall, at Alington House community building, in North Bailey, starting at 7pm.
