A YOUNG girl was left 'traumatised' after being by a threatened by a knife-wielding youth in Middlesbrough.

Cleveland Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them after the 11-year-old girl was walking along Ormesby Bank and another youth approached her with a knife and threatened her.

It happened at around 3.05pm on Tuesday, November 12 as the girl passed the new build houses on the A171 (Ormesby Bank).

A male youth approached the girl and threatened her, before producing a knife from inside his blazer pocket.

The girl ran off fearing for her safety.

The suspect is described as male, around 5ft 11” tall, of slim build with brown, short hair.

He was older than the victim but was wearing a school uniform with a dark blazer with a badge on the left, a white shirt and grey trousers.

PC Mark Kenley said: “This was obviously a very distressing incident for the young victim, who was left feeling traumatised and ran off in fear.

"We would appeal to anyone who may have passed this incident as it happened, or anyone who may know the male involved, to get in touch.

“Additionally, anyone who may been in the area around the time of the incident and may have dash cam footage is also asked to call police on 101.”
