A WOMAN has been jailed for making threats to kill a partner who she has previously attacked.

Charlotte Valerie Williams, formerly known as Justin Blundell, was released from prison on licence on September 11, following a conviction for breaching a restraining order prohibiting contact with a former partner.

Durham Crown Court heard that only a week later she told a probation officer she was having “dark thoughts” about harming her ex-partner, burning down her house with her inside.

She told the probation officer that, “to save hassle” she wanted to be recalled to prison, which did happen.

Saba Shan, prosecuting, said five days later in Durham Prison William wrote a letter to be posted to her former partner containing threats, including using the words ‘RIP’ followed by the woman’s name.

Miss Shan said in a meeting with a member of prison staff only two days afterwards she said that as soon as she was released she would kill her ex-partner and wanted a life sentence, but even only a couple of extra years, “would be good”.

The court heard her ex-partner is terrified, believing Williams is capable of carrying out her threats, having previously been punched and choked by her.

Miss Shan said the victim plans to relocate or move into a refuge before Williams is released from prison.

The defendant, 27, formerly of Wallsend, North Tyneside, admitted two counts of making threats to kill and one of sending a letter or communication containing a threat.

Mark Harrison, for Williams, said a previous restraining order was relaxed at the complainant’s behest as she wanted to have some contact with the defendant, allowing them to reconcile, but enabling her to ring the police if they argued.

He said none of the recent threats was made directly to the ex-partner.

Mr Harrison added that Williams is awaiting surgery to begin gender reassignment, but until that is completed will remain in a male prison where she is the subject of constant bullying.

Imposing a 26-month prison sentence, Judge James Adkin said Williams caused his former partner, “distress and psychological harm.”

He put in place an unlimited restraining order prohibiting any attempt at future contact.
