A MAGICAL experience aboard “the best Christmas train ride in England” awaits families this festive season, with exclusive discounts now available for armed forces personnel and NHS employees.
The Weardale Railway team is proud to announce that this year, for the first time, The Train to Christmas Town will offer special discounts for national services staff.
Thanks to the railway team’s work with Health Service Discounts and the Defence Discount Service, staff can save money on this popular festive treat for the whole family.
Bill Warriner, Weardale Railway’s general manager, said: “Setting this up was really important to us because it is something that we are very passionate about. We appreciate what people in these difficult, but vital, roles do, and we hope they can come and enjoy some fantastic family time”.
The Train to Christmas Town has been a keen charity supporter at both of its UK locations – the other at Dartmoor Railway – and has given away hundreds of tickets to chosen good causes for the first trip to Christmas Town each year, delighting children and adults alike.
The 70-minute Christmas spectacle, expertly designed to bring the spirit of Christmas to the whole family, will operate from Friday, November 29 until Monday, December 23.
From the moment passengers arrive at the station, they will enjoy a fantastic experience jam-packed with Christmas craziness. Climbing aboard the train, guests are greeted and entertained by an array of fabulous characters, who will have everyone singing and dancing all the way to Christmas Town.
Everyone can then sit back and enjoy some Christmas storytelling, while being served creamy hot chocolate and delicious cookies.
Once the train arrives at Christmas Town, Santa Claus himself will join in the fun, along with his mischievous elves. Slowly making his way through the train, Santa will greet every child, and present them with a very special gift from Christmas Town.
More singing and dancing fun with the elves lies in store for the return journey, making this experience the most unforgettable way to ring in the festive season.
