GREYHOUND racing has been part of County Durham life for generations.
But as tracks have closed and the sport has fallen out of fashion, a short film has been created to record and celebrate the pride and passion of the pastime.
This Place is Going to the Dogs was inspired by Louise Powell’s powerful memoir essay of the same name and recalls a childhood spent flapping- or independent greyhound racing- in east Durham.
Wheatley Hill Greyhound Stadium was due to screen the film alongside its usual race night tonight but has cancelled the showing due to the poor weather forecast.
