A DRIVER involved in a pursuit on the A19 was arrested after crashing into a police vehicle.
Traffic officers attempted to stop a silver Nissan Juke on the A19, near the Billingham Interchange, at around 1.25am this morning, November 7.
Officers pursued the vehicle, suspected to be stolen, over a short distance before it collided with the police vehicle causing damage.
The car was abandoned in the Newport area and the driver, a 31-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including burglary, theft of motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop, possession of an offensive weapon and going equipped for burglary.
A spokesperson from Cleveland Police said: "Detectives in Stockton are now investigating whether the suspected stolen vehicle is linked to an alleged ‘two-in-one’ burglary in Darlington Back Lane on Wednesday, November 6."
