POLICE are appealing for witnesses who may have seen Wednesday's crash in Stockton, where a man had to be cut free from a vehicle after colliding with a tree.

The collision, involving a Fiat Punto, happened at around 7.25am on Long Newton Lane, Stockton, on Wednesday, November 6.

Police, fire and ambulance services attended the scene, where a 50-year-old man had became trapped inside the vehicle.

The man was cut free and was taken to James Cook University Hospital with leg injuries where he remained whilst receiving treatment yesterday afternoon.

A spokesperson from Cleveland Police said: "Any witnesses to the collision or anyone with dash cam footage which could assist the investigation is asked to contact PC Lee Benson from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 191022."
