FIREFIGHTERS last night tackled a large fire which caused considerable damage a well-known Middlesbrough pub.
Crews received a call at around 10pm on Bonfire Night, November 5, with reports of a large fire at Park End pub.
The now-derelict pub suffered damage to its roof which had to be cut away as two fire engines from Middlesbrough Fire Station went to the scene.
A Cleveland Fire Brigade spokeswoman said: “The roof of the pub is on fire and we have two engines at the scene.
“The skylight in the roof void was well alight and it had spread to the derelict building itself.
“We have gained access and are cutting away at the ceiling."
At around 10.40pm the fire was announced to be under control.
It is not known how the fire was started.
