GENEROUS residents from across the region are being asked to don their finest evening wear as a regional charity turns up the heat at a fund raising ball.

The Wearside-based charity Hope 4 Kidz, which works on behalf of children and young people, is hosting its annual Christmas event, a fire and ice masquerade ball, at Lumley Castle, near Chester-le-Street, on Friday, November 29.

And the hotel has also chosen Hope 4 Kidz as its dedicated charity and will now fundraise on its behalf.

Gordon Cartwright, general manager of Lumley Castle, said the hotel had a long association with the charity and was pleased to be able to support it going forward.

He saide: “We’re very privileged and delighted to support and work with Hope4kidz.

“We recognise the work it does to enhance the lives of youngsters across the region which makes a real difference and we’re glad to help in any way we can.”

Viv Watts, of Hope 4 Kidz, who thanked the castle for its support said: "The black tie ball is designed to raise vital funds for the charity, as well as offering an enjoyable night out for supporters."

The event will include live entertainment in the castle grounds, followed by cocktails, four-course dinner and a themed cabaret.

Entertainment for the evening will be provided compere Aarron Lodge, along with live music from the Overthinkers.

Proceeds from the ball’s ticket sales will be combined with money raised from auctions and raffles held on the evening and used to help fund Hope 4 Kidz’s annual Santa’s Christmas party.
