THE following cases were among those heard by Durham and Darlington magistrates sitting at Newton Aycliffe.

JOSHUA ADAM CILKE, 23, of Oak Lea, Shildon, pleaded guilty to stealing to dolls worth £22 from Wm Morrison Stores and meat worth £70.30 from a Tesco in Bishop Auckland. He was given a conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £21 victim surcharge.

ETHAN RAY GRAHAM, 29, of School Avenue, West Rainton was found in possession of cannabis and was fined £80 plus £85 court costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

ANDREW BRANDON LAWSON, 39, of Wordsworth Road, Darlington, pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words towards a man in Darlington. He was given a community order with a drug rehabilitation requirement and ordered to pay a £90 victim surcharge.

DARREN MICHAEL RUSSELL, 48, of Hargreave Terrace, Darlington, pleaded guilty to a string of shop thefts including 20 cans of Lynx deodorant, 20 cans of shaving foam and cosmetics worth between £60 and £100 from Wilkinsons in Darlington. He also stole several pairs of jeans from Matalan He was given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12-months alongside a 12-month supervision programme with a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement. He was also told to pay compensation of more than £500.

MICHAEL NATHANIEL SIMMONS, 45, of Zetland Street, Darlington, stole washing products from Iceland and alcohol from Morrisons. He was given a community order with a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement. He was also told to pay £228 compensation.

JAMES WHITING, 31, of Carodoc Road, Wingate, Durham, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and was ordered to pay a total of £2,020 in court fines and charges.

DWAIN BEAL, 31, of Burdon Close, Newton Aycliffe failed to comply with the requirements of a community order and was ordered to pay fines and court charges of £180.

LUKE MICHAEL BONIFACE, 24, of Evanwood Gate, Bishop Auckland, failed to comply with the requirements of a community order and was ordered to pay fines and court charges of £260.

LEWIS ROBERT HALLIDAY, 22, of Somme Barracks, Catterick Garrison failed to comply with the requirements of a community order by not attending scheduled unpaid work sessions. He was told to pay £230 in court fines and charges.

CHRISTOPHER REAY, 47, of First Street Pont Bungalows, Consett, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and was ordered to pay £237 in court fines and charges.

MATTHEW AINSLEY GILLIGAN, 37, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to making off without paying for £53 worth of petrol in Darlington, driving while disqualified, refusing to give a sample for a blood test and breaching a conditional discharge. He was ordered to pay £53 compensation, jailed for eight weeks and banned from driving for 27-months.

KEVIN LEO MOSS, 21, of Dene Avenue, Houghton le Spring, pleaded guilty to trespassing in an industrial estate with intent to steal and was given a 12-month conditional discharge with £305 to pay in court fines and charges.

JOHN PAUL CLIFF, 46, of Front Street, West Auckland, had 36 rounds of live ammunition without holding a firearms licence and was fined a total of £315 in costs and charges.

DEREK MARK CRONE, 53, of Jubilee Close, Edmondsley, drove without due care and attention and failed to stop for the police. He was given five points on his driving licence and told to pay £381 in court fines and charges.

JONATHON DAVID HENRY, 22, of Ullswater Crescent, Crook, pleaded guilty to carrying a tazer stun gun in Bishop Auckland was fined a total of £175 along with a community order.

PHILLIP FRANCIS HOPKINS, 48, of Woodlands Green, Middleton St George, pleaded guilty to drink driving and was banned from driving for 24-months along with court fines and charges of £1,537.

CHARLES MCCASKILL, 23, of Dovedale Avenue, Crook, rode a motorbike on the A690 while over the drink drive limit. He was disqualified from driving for 18-months and ordered to pay a total of £385 in court fines and charges.

JASON ORPEN, 31, of Wood Street, Spennymoor, pleaded guilty to drink driving on the A68 and was banned from driving for 36-months and ordered to pay a total of £237 in court fines and charges.

ANTHONY SIMPSON, 42, of Lantern Court, Durham, failed to give a breath test when suspected of drink driving. He was disqualified from driving for 18-months and ordered to pay a total of £317 in court fines and charges.

FRANKIE FLANAGIAN THOMAS, 18, of Malim Road, Darlington, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer and was ordered to pay a total of £517 in court fines and charges.

ROBERT GEORGE BARNFATHER, 30, of Glasedale, Spennymoor pleaded guilty to drug driving and was disqualified from driving for 36-months and ordered to pay a total of £542.
