A MAN who literally “overreacted” to trouble which came to his door has been given a six-month target to keep out of trouble.
Carl Heath angrily emerged from his house after his door was kicked several times at night, on August 18 last year.
Durham Crown Court was told, carrying a metal cylindrical object, he pushed a young man outside his home.
The victim landed awkwardly damaging his teeth.
Having received a visit from the victim’s father, Heath was then seen emerging from his home with a large knife making threats on the main road through Tow Law, causing motorists to veer out of the way, the following morning.
Heath, 27, of High Street, Tow Law, admitted charges of assault and affray.
Martin Towers, mitigating, said: “In short, he has overreacted to an incident of anti-social behaviour, trouble which came to his door.”
Judge Christopher Prince deferred sentence for six months, warning Heath to remain trouble-free and save to pay compensation for his victim for the repairs to his damaged teeth.
