BURGLARS smashed their way into a house while the owners were away on holiday and stole a large amount of jewellery.
Police are now investigating the break-in at an address on St David’s Close, in Spennymoor, which occurred sometime between Saturday, October 12 and Monday, October 14.
A spokesperson for Durham police said: "It is believed the suspects smashed the rear patio door with a brick to gain entry and once inside removed a large quantity of jewellery before making off.
"The occupants were on holiday at the time of the incident."
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Sarah Thompson on 101 quoting incident number 228 of October 14.
