POLICE have seized a BB gun from a group of young people in Crook after reports that they were firing at members of the public.
Officers were alerted to the situation after a post was put on social media claiming that a number of youths were aiming and firing a BB gun at members of the public.
PCSOs attended Market Place and Commercial Street this afternoon.
A spokesperson for Crook Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "PCSOs attended the area and swiftly caught up with the youths and seized the BB gun in question.
"Officers from Crook NPT would like to reassure the public that this was not a firearms incident as was in fact a toy gun that has been sighted and subsequently seized."
