The following cases were among those heard at Teesside Magistrates’ Court in the last week.

DAVID CHURCHILL, 36, of Station Road, Middlesbrough, admitted to theft of various items from several stores, and to assaulting a man by beating. He was committed to prison for 12 weeks, to run concurrently with his previous suspended sentence. His overall sentence is 26 weeks. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115.

TREVOR BURRIDGE, 72, of Darlington Back Lane, Stockton, admitted to drink driving. He was fined £250, with a victim surcharge of £32 and £85 court costs. He has been disqualified from driving for 12 months.

BRANDON DALKIN, 19, of Derwent Street, Stockton, admitted to being in possession of cannabis. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge, ordered to pay a £21 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. One cannabis plant and equipment were seized by police.

MARK GOLDBY, 36, of Falcon Way, Guisborough, admitted to drink driving. He was fined £350, with a £32 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. He was disqualified from driving for 12 months.

ANDREW HARTLEY, 32, admitted to driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was spared a driving ban due to being his mother’s carer. He was fined £440, with a £44 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

SCOTT PAPPRILL, 39, of Appleton Road, Middlesbrough, admitted to drink driving. He was fined £280, with a £32 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. He was disqualified for 36 months.

MARK BRIAN WILKINSON, 39, of Kirriemuir Road, Hartlepool, admitted to causing damage to a Cleveland Police van. He was given a conditional discharge for 18 months and ordered to pay £300 compensation. He was also ordered to pay £85 towards court costs.

BERNADETTE MARIE HOWELLS, 35, of Station Road, Redcar, pleaded guilty to stealing fragrance to the value of £150 from Boots Chemist. She was made to pay compensation of £50 and another £40 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

MATTHEW ALWYN SMITH, 39, of Embleton Walk, Stockton, pleaded guilty to assaulting four people by beating. He was ordered to pay £100 to each person and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service, a total of £485.

DARREN HAWKES, 47, of Northbourne Road, Stockton, was fined a total of £230 for failing to comply with the requirements of a community order.

NICOLE TIFESCU, 41, of Warwick Street, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to the assault of another person. She was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £90 and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

PAUL LISTER, 44, of Radlett Avenue, Stockton, pleaded guilty to assault of another person. He was ordered to pay compensation of £300 and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

LEE MARTIN HAWKES, 21, of Park Avenue, Thornaby, broke a restraining order, committed assault, theft and criminal damage. Found guilty after summary trial. The offences were committed whilst the defendant was under a suspended sentence period which was activated by magistrates. He was jailed for a total of 32-weeks and ordered to pay £220 in court charges.

STEPHEN CANNON, 40, Vale Drive, Thornaby, pleaded guilty to drink driving and was disqualified from driving for 12-months, fined £1,000 plus £185 in court charges.

BERNADETTE MARIE DAVIES, 39 of Brompton Street, Middlesbrough pleaded guilty to stealing items from shops; lamb from Farmfoods, chocolate from Morrisons, toilet roll from One Stop Shop and deodorant from Boots. Sentenced to an eight-week overnight curfew at her home address and told to pay £90 victim surcharge.

CARLA MARIE MCLAY, 27, of Portman Street, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to several thefts from shops including clothes from New Look, two games from Games World and meat from Iceland. She was sentenced to an eight-week overnight curfew at her home address and told to pay £90 victim surcharge.

BILLY DAVID NUGENT, 27 of Mount Pleasant Grange, Stockton pleaded guilty to stealing trunking equipment whilst under a community order. Given a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12-months and ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and pay £115 court charges.

IAN PHILIP THOMPSON, 46, of Arnold Grove, Hartlepool pleaded guilty to six counts of theft from shops. The offences were committed whilst under a community order. Handed a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12-months along with a drug rehabilitation requirement. Ordered to pay £122 court charges.

ALAN JOHN CHARLES BELL, 43, of Bridge Road, Stockton pleaded guilty to stealing an umbrella and loose change from a woman and a satnav and tyre inflator from another woman. Ordered to pay £97 total compensation and complete a nine-month drug rehabilitation requirement.

RAFAL KOWALCZUK, 33, of Popular Street, Chester le Street was ordered to pay £762 in court fines and charges after being found guilty of failing to give information to the police about a Volkswagen car driver who was suspected of an offence in Middlesbrough.
