THE following cases were heard at Newton Aycliffe and Peterlee Magistrates’ Courts in the last week.

JAMIE THOMAS MASON, 18, of Hall Terrace, Willington, pleaded guilty to attempting to steal a bottle of Gordon's pink gin from Morrisons Supermarket in Bishop Auckland. Mason was discharged conditionally for six months, made pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £21 and ordered to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

BRAD ROBERTS, 44, of Beech Avenue, Murton, was found guilty of stealing three joints of gammon for the Co-op in Seaham. The culprit was made to pay £30 compensation.

SCOTT SALIBA, 28, of Eglesfield Road, South Shields, caused unnecessary suffering to a male Dogue de Bordeaux type dog named Sid, by an act, namely failing to explore and address the cause of poor bodily condition. He was fined £200 and made to pay £400.

ADAM CHARLES ALLEN, 25, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to damaging a door without lawful excuse. He was fined £160, made to pay £180 compensation, ordered to pay £32 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

GRAHAM LAWSON MILLION, 46, of Church Street, Crook, was found guilty by the court of assaulting a woman by beating her. He was ordered to undergo treatment for alcohol dependency. Million was also made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £90 and made to pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

THOMAS BENJAMIN BRITTON, 29, of Brinkburn Road, Darlington, destroyed window panes in Cotherstone, County Durham without lawful excuse. He pleaded guilty and was made to pay

To pay compensation of £200, £32 to fund victim services and £85.00 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

RYAN BURGESS, 26, of Cotherstone Court, Houghton le Spring, was given a restraining order after beating a woman in Bishop Auckland. Burgess was made to pay £150 compensation, made to pay £270 to fund victim services and £85.00 to the Crown Prosecution Service. He was also given a restraining order for beating a man in February. The defendant was ordered by the court to pay £100 compensation and fined £173.

THOMAS QUINELL, 39, currently at H M Prison, Durham, was committed to prison for seven days for damaging a Vauxhall Astra. He pleaded guilty to the offence was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £122.

JOSHUA CALLUM SHOTTON, 24, of Collingsway, Darlington, pleaded guilty to driving along Lambton Street, under the influence of Benzoylecgonine. He was disqualified from driving along for 36 months. He was fined £120, made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

ROBERT ASKEW, of Wood View, Esh Winning, pleaded guilty to the theft of alcohol from the Co-op at Framwellgate Moor. He was given a prison sentence of eight weeks suspended for six months. The defendant was also made to pay £29.45 in compensation.

SHARON JAYNE OWEN, 50, of College View, Esh Winning, pleaded guilty to driving a VW Golf whilst under the influence the alcohol. She was disqualified from driving for 24 months, fined £235 and ordered to pay £32 to fund victim services.

TONY JOHN AlEXANDER NEIL BRASH, 33, of Coronation Avenue, Shildon, was found guilty of stealing three packs of fillet steak from Lidl in Bishop Auckland. He was conditionally discharged for 12 months and made to £"1 to fund victim services.

TAYLOR GRIFFITHS, 18, Holland Park Drive, Jarrow, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer in Wingate. The defendant was given a community order, made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

REBECCA JANE KNOWLES, 36, of Clarence Terrace, Willington, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. She was given a community order, made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £90 and made to pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

MARTIN ORD, 48, of Webb Avenue, Seaham, was found guilty of assault following an incident in Blackpool. A community order was made, and Ord was ordered to pay compensation of £100 and £500 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

BRIAN THEXTON, 64, of Church Square, Bishop Auckland, at Bishop Auckland, stole garden equipment to the value of £1,295 belonging to B&Q in Bishop Auckland.

LEE ANTHONY WALLACE, 30, of Matterdale Road, Peterlee, was convicted of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol. He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 26 months and given a community order.

CHRISTOPHER WAITE, 22, of Howe Terrace, Crook, pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress. He was discharged conditionally for nine months, made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £21 and made to pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

NATHAN CARL HOWE, 19, of Kirkstall Walk, St Helens Auckland, wilfully obstructed a constable in the execution of his duty. Howe was fined £120, made to pay £32 to fund victim services and ordered to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

SCOTT METCALFE, 30, of Crawleyside, Stanhope, was convicted of stealing seafood from Iceland in Consett. He was fined £80.

MICHAEL BAILEY, 26, of Longdean Park, Chester-le-Street, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol and was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months. Bailey was fined £168, made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £30 and ordered to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
