A WOMAN was robbed of her handbag by a female assailant armed with a screwdriver in Middlesbrough.

The 38-year-old victim was approached by an unknown woman in the car park on Cooper Court, Eston, at around 11.40pm on Tuesday night.

The suspect tried to attack the woman with a screwdriver before stealing her handbag. She made off towards Eston High Street onto Church Lane. The victim was unharmed.

The robber is described as being white, slim build, gaunt face, around 5’3” tall and blonde hair with dark roots which was tied up in a ponytail.

She was wearing salmon pink and white spot trousers, a brown long sleeved fleece, Ugg style boots and a black baseball cap.
