A WORKER who emergency services feared was seriously injured when he was hit by a construction vehicle near a school building site is said to have recovered well.
The building subcontractor was working on the Vane Road Primary School site, off Central Avenue, in Newton Aycliffe, when he was hurt in the collision on Thursday, August 22.
His injuries were initially described as 'potentially life-changing' by Durham police whose officers attended the scene along with the North East Ambulance Service and Great North Air Ambulance Service, which airlifted him to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
But a spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said he has since been released from hospital and has recovered well.
A Health and Safety Executive investigation is ongoing.
