A WOMAN has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a multi-vehicle crash on the A179.

At around 5pm on Tuesday, October 8, a blue Hyundai I35, Mercedes wagon, silver Volkswagen Gold and a grey Ford Ranger became involved in a crash on the stretch of road in Hartlepool.

The woman, who was driving the Hyundai and in her 30s, was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious leg injuries.

The driver of the Ford Ranger, a man in his 20s, was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton after suffering neck, shoulder and back pain.

Police have since launched an appeal for witnesses to the accident to come forward in the assistance of their enquiries. 

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Officers are appealing for any witnesses who have not already spoken with police to come forward and speak to them.

"Anyone with dash cam footage of the incident or anyone who may have witnessed the manner of driving of the vehicles involved is also asked to contact police."
