A 48-YEAR-OLD man has died after his car left the road and collided with a tree near Bedale on Monday evening.

At around 6.20pm on October 7, the man's black Seat Ibiza left a stretch of unclassified road, known as Kings Keld Bank between Bedale and Snape, North Yorkshire.

The driver of the Seat Ibiza, who has not yet been named, reportedly died at the scene following injuries suffered after colliding with a tree.

A police spokesperson said: "Sadly, despite the efforts of members of the public and ambulance staff, the 48-year-old male driver of the Ibiza died at the scene from his injuries."

The stretch of road had to be closed for four hours while the Major Collision Investigation Team at North Yorkshire Police carried out an investigation of the scene.

The spokesperspn added: "Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw the Seat Ibiza prior to the collision, to contact them.

"They would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have captured dash cam footage.
