DANCERS from all over the region battled it out to win classes at the Darlington Festival of Performing Arts at the weekend.

There were more than 100 entries for categories including classical ballet, cabaret and tap at the festival, held at Longfield School, while performers competed to win places in the All England Dance Competition.

The festival is a registered charity, run by volunteers, and holds music, speech and drama competitions in March with the dance element held the first weekend in October.

It provides the chance for both children and adults to perform competitively in front of professional adjudicators.

DFPA is affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals.

The event was open to the public to come and watch the performers. Darlington for Culture volunteers also helped out at the event.
