A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after being found with a serious chest wound on a road near Yarm.
Cleveland Police said they were called out to Aislaby Road, Eaglescliffe, at 11.25am this morning after the man was discovered on the tiny road which leads to Middleton St George.
A spokeswoman said: "Detectives have launched an investigation to establish how the man came about his injuries. However, investigations are at an early stage."
The incident is believed to have happened not far from an equestrian centre and was not a road traffic accident.
The Great North Air Ambulance confirmed that one male had been airlifted to James Cook University Hospital.
