CONCERNS have been raised over road safety after a bride was taken to hospital on her wedding day, when a rally car she was travelling in crashed into a road sign.
Footage has emerged on social media of a bride, in her wedding dress, getting into the Ford Escort rally car outside the Croft Spa Hotel, in Croft, Darlington.
The car then spins round and heads off down the A167 towards Northallerton before the driver loses control and crashes into a warning sign on a pavement.
The bride was understood not to have been wearing a seatbelt during the crash, which happened at about 6.30pm on June 29. The footage has only just been widely shared on social media, under the hashtag #weddingcrashers
She was taken to hospital to be treated for her injuries, North Yorkshire Police confirmed.
Parents living in Croft raised concerns about the way the car was being driven in the small village, and said it was lucky there were no children on the pavement at the time of the crash.
