THE following cases were heard at Newton Aycliffe and Peterlee Magistrates’ Courts in the last week.

PAUL HARDY, 42, of Ramsgill House, Darlington, pleaded guilty to theft after he stole a Hobbs iron and a pack of Lenor Unstoppables, to the value of £43 from Wilko’s. He was made to pay £43 compensation.

JAMES MICHAEL WILLIAM HOLDEN, 33, of Hazel Terrace, Shotton Colliery, was fined £40 at Peterlee Magistrates' Court for failing to comply with a previous community order.

SHAUN RYAN FREEMAN, 35, of Dundas Street, Spennymoor, was found guilty of stealing meat products to the value of £18.20 from Tesco at St Helen Auckland. He was made to pay the value of the meat back in compensation.

TOM DOWSON, 18, of Wellfield Road, Wingate, pleaded guilty to driving a black Vauxhall Corsa while under the influence of cannabis. He was fined £250, made to pay a £30 surcharge to fund victim services and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

LUKE ROWSON, 27, of Cowen Terrace, Rowlands Gill, was found guilty of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol at Burnopfield in County Durham. He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 28 months and made to pay a £330 fine. He must also pay £33 to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

KANE DARREN TILNEY, 19, of Headlam Road, Darlington, was convicted after stealing a pedal cycle to the value of £250. He was discharged conditionally for six months, made to pay compensation of £100, made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

JAKE WARD, 23, of Welbeck Avenue, Darlington, pleaded guilty to driving a Volkswagen Amarok without due care and attention on Brinkburn Road, in Darlington. He was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months.

BRANDON LEE LOCKWOOD, 21, of Fowler Road, Newton Aycliffe, was convicted of damage to property after he damaged a wooden door with intent to destroy or damage. He pleaded guilty and was discharged conditionally for six months, made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services and made to pay £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

SCOTT WILLIAM DONKIN, 26, of Brandlings Way, Peterlee, pleaded guilty to resisting a constable in the execution of his duty. Donkin was given a community order by the courts.

PAUL ANDREW HUTCHINSON, 36, of Eldon Terrace, Ferryhill, was convicted of stealing more than £200 of alcohol from ASDA in Spennymoor. He was also convicted of stealing £117 worth of whisky from Lidl in Spennymoor. A community order was made and the defendant was required to undergo drug rehabilitation. Hutchinson was also made to pay £234 compensation.
