PEOPLE across the county will get the chance to be soaked in multi-coloured paint next month as an annual 5k Community Colour Rush takes place next month.

Herriot Hospice Homecare will hold the vibrant event at the Ripley Showground near Harrogate, North Yorkshire, on Sunday, October 27.

At the showground participants wearing white clothes will make their way through a five-mile course while being showered with a multitude of coloured paint.

The event is being held to raise money for the continuation of the hospice's services to those suffering from a terminal illness, and those going through bereavement.

Chief Executive of Herriot Hospice Homecare, Tony Collins, said: "The Colour Rush isn't about speed or fitness, it's about celebrating colour and having fun with your friends, family and colleagues all whilst raising vital funds for hospice care.

"Every pound raised in sponsorship by those taking part will make a real difference to local families living with terminal illness and bereavement – whether it’s helping a family member come to terms with the death of a loved one or enabling people to live comfortably and with dignity in their own home during the last weeks of their life.

"This practical, emotional and psychological support not only supports patients, but also helps their families manage during a very difficult time."
