AREAS of Darlington faced large levels of flooding after hours of rainfall.

Residents on Stanhope Road could be seen attempting to clear away water and, at around 5.30pm a fire engine was called to help pump away the water and ease disruption to traffic.
In Branksome, parts of Newton Lane were flooded and Cocker Beck had burst its banks.
Burtree Lane, Whessoe Road and Longfield road were also all waterlogged as drains burst and traffic was stopped.
