COUNTRY folk were out in force for a traditional late season gathering in the show calendar at the weekend
The weather was breezy, but otherwise fine for the 132nd Bowes Show, now in its 150th year, staged as ever on the second Saturday in September.
Holme Farm in Gilmonby was the setting for the traditional show classes and competitions, but the event also featured dog agility tests, a display of vintage tractors, a handy pony jump course, birds of prey and terrier racing.
General secretary Liz Redfern, who oversaw the bar and catering tent, said there was plenty to entertain for both the farming community and the general public alike.
“It went really well, there was lots to do and everyone seemed to have a good day.
“It was bit windy, but that’s Bowes. We’re always windy.”
