FOUR people have been arrested following an armed robbery at a convenience shop in Eaglescliffe.

Cleveland Police is appealing for information relating to the incident at the One Stop store on Station Road at 11.30am yesterday.

It is believed the staff in the store were allegedly threatened with a suspected firearm. Cash and cigarettes were stolen from the premises.

A police spokeswoman said: "Four people were arrested in connection with the incident a short time later at the Jet Garage in Norton. Two women aged 45 and 22 and two men aged 30 and 27 were arrested and all remain in custody."

The force said that enquiries into the raid are ongoing.
